Braden Looper completed the game without help from the bullpen as the New York
(AL) Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres 6 to 3 at Petco Park.

Jack Cust provided much of the offense. He doubled bringing in two
baserunners in the 1st inning, laced a single bringing in a run in the 2nd
inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 1st of the
season) in the 4th inning. New York (AL) totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.

The win went to Looper(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Brandon Backe(1-2)
absorbed the loss. He surrendered 6 runs and 9 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.
