The San Diego Padres nipped the Arizona Diamondbacks 4 to 3 at Petco Park in a
hard fought contest.
 
San Diego promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs
using 3 hits.  Edgar Renteria led off and he doubled.  After an out was
recorded, Mark Teixeira stepped in and he cleared the fences for a two-run
home run (his 7th of the season).  After another out, Orlando Hudson came up
and he laced a one-base hit.  Chad Qualls relieved and was untouched by
Arizona as he recorded the save, his 11th.  
 
Carlos Zambrano(3-3) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
Greg Smith(0-1) was the loser.  He was touched for 8 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings.  
 
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Zambrano, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
