The San Diego Padres snapped a 5 game losing streak and nipped the Cincinnati
Reds 4 to 3 at Petco Park in a hard fought contest.
San Diego came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning with 2
runs on 3 hits. Mark Teixeira got things going when he stroked a base-hit.
Raul Ibanez stepped into the batter's box and he blasted a two-run home run
(his 7th of the season). Garret Anderson then lined a one-base hit. Jolbert
Cabrera struck out, unable to help the rally. Nick Hundley came to the plate
and grounded into a double play. Cincinnati had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.
The win was credited to Duaner Sanchez(2-2) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Sanchez got help from Chad Qualls who was credited with his 15th save.
Boone Logan(0-1) took the loss in relief.
'Thankfully we got ourselves a win', Sanchez said. 'It's great to be back on
the winning side of things.'
