The San Diego Padres edged the Minnesota Twins at Metrodome by the score of 4
to 3.
San Diego scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning. Edgar
Renteria lined a single. After an out was recorded, Humberto Quintero
stepped up to the plate and he stroked a base-hit. Jacoby Ellsbury then
worked the squeeze play to perfection. Orlando Hudson came up and he laced a
single. San Diego banged out 9 hits on the afternoon.
The victory went to Craig Breslow(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Chad Qualls recorded the save, his 1st. B.J. Ryan(0-1) absorbed the loss in
relief.
