At Petco Park, the San Diego fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Kevin
Slowey(1-0) finally bested his San Francisco opposite, Jonathan Sanchez(0-1),
by the score of 2 to 1.

San Diego came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning with the help of
3 hits. That was all Slowey needed. San Diego won despite being out-hit by
San Francisco 7 hits to 4.

Chad Qualls recorded his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Sanchez. He
pitched 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 7 walks.
