Center fielder Adam Jones had 2 base hits at Chase Field as the San Diego
Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks by the count of 4 to 3.
 
San Diego brought 2 runs across the plate in the 6th inning.  The key
offensive moment was provided by Garret Anderson who quieted the crowd when
he ripped a base-knock which was good for two runs.  San Diego and Arizona
each finished the night with 9 hits.  
 
The win was credited to Chris Volstad(1-0) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing
2 runs. Chad Qualls earned his 2nd save.  Glendon Rusch(0-1) suffered the
loss.
