Nick Hundley left the yard and had 2 RBI as the sizzling San Diego Padres
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 6 to 0 at Petco Park.
San Diego went ahead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning as they scored 2
runs on 2 base hits. The key at-bat was by Hundley who made the home-town
crowd a happy bunch when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 5th of
the season). San Diego had 10 hits for the night while Pittsburgh had 3.
The victory was credited to Carlos Zambrano(4-3) who went 3 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Doug Waechter recorded his 1st save. Brett Myers(0-1)
ended up with the loss. He surrendered 6 runs and 8 hits in 6 and 1/3
innings.
San Diego continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 8
games and counting.
