Edgar Renteria had 4 hits as the blistering-hot San Diego Padres beat the
Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 4.
San Diego jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 6th inning as they scored
2 runs on 3 base hits. San Diego kept the pressure on throughout the contest
as they scored in 6 different innings.
Craig Breslow(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. David Weathers(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.
With the win, San Diego continued their winning ways; their streak now stands
at 9 games and counting. 'We've really come alive lately,' Tim Stoops said.
'We won some tough games and I feel real good about this ballclub right now,
and hopefully we'll continue the roll we're on.'
