Designated hitter Raul Ibanez had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Kevin Slowey
allowed 3 hits while blanking Chicago (NL) as the San Diego Padres clobbered
the outmatched Chicago (NL) Cubs, 11 to 0.

Slowey(5-2) simply dominated Chicago (NL). He didn't give up much, just 3
hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 3.25 to 2.83. San
Diego banged out 15 hits on the night.

Ted Lilly(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings. Don Sprague lamented, 'Slowey was really aggressive today. He kept
coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one
after another - like so many bowling pins!'
