At Petco Park the Chicago (NL) Cubs were battered 8 to 3 by the San Diego
Padres.
San Diego jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated
run on 2 hits. Edgar Renteria singled. Jorge De La Rosa then threw a wild
pitch. Jacoby Ellsbury got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.
Mark Teixeira followed and he hit a single. Raul Ibanez came to the plate
and hit a sacrifice fly. San Diego had 12 hits for the night while Chicago
(NL) had 7.
Yusmeiro Petit(5-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and
allowing 3 runs. De La Rosa(0-1) was the losing pitcher. San Diego scored
big getting 6 runs off him in 4 innings.
