Chris Volstad pitched a complete game at Chase Field as the San Diego Padres
beat the Arizona Diamondbacks by the count of 7 to 2.
 
San Diego scored 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they had 4 base
hits.  That was all Volstad(2-1) needed.  San Diego finished with 12 hits in
the victory.  
 
Glendon Rusch(4-4) was charged with the loss.  His ERA increased from 4.50 to
4.88 as he allowed 5 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.  
 
With this win, San Diego has a division leading 13-7 record.  They have been
5-5 lately.  With the loss, the Arizona ballclub's record is 80-57.
