Mark Teixeira slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at AT&T Park where the San Diego
Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 6 to 5.

San Diego came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning scoring
2 runs on 2 hits. Jacoby Ellsbury led off and keyed the rally when he lashed
a single. Ellsbury then stole second base. Orlando Hudson got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim. Teixeira was up next and he smashed a
two-run homer (his 2nd of the season). Despite losing, San Francisco out-hit
San Diego 11 to 7.

The winning pitcher was Kevin Slowey(1-0) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Slowey was helped out by Chad Qualls who recorded his 3rd save.
Billy Sadler(3-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 3 runs in 2
and 1/3 innings of work.

Jonathan Sanchez(3-6) was solid if not spectacular. He was reached for 7 hits

Third baseman Juan Uribe ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Shea Stadium as
the San Diego Padres, running on all cylinders, ripped the New York (NL) Mets
by a large 13 to 2 margin.

Uribe enjoyed a big day at the plate. He doubled in the 3rd inning, lofted a
three-run bomb in the 8th inning and blasted a solo shot (his 2nd of the
season) in the 9th inning. Overall San Diego out-hit New York (NL) 15 to 6.

Brandon Backe(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings. Kenny Rogers(2-5) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around,
surrendering 4 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

'I had good swings today,' Uribe said, 'Everything felt right'.
