In a dramatic ending at Petco Park the San Diego Padres won in their last
at-bat beating the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the count of 4 to 3.

San Diego scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Orlando
Hudson lined a single. John Buck was next and he singled. Buck took second
on the throw. After an out was recorded, Raul Ibanez came to the plate and
would hit into a fielders choice making San Diego the winners and sending the
41,572 fans home happy. San Diego rapped out 9 hits for the night.

The victory went to Scot Shields(4-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Tim Wakefield(0-2) ended up with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 3
walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.
