Raul Ibanez cracked a homer and Carlos Zambrano pitched 9 strong innings as
the San Diego Padres won at Petco Park in dramatic fashion over the
Washington Nationals, the final score, 2 to 1.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After two were out Ibanez cracked a
solo homerun (his 1st of the season) making San Diego the winners and sending
the 41,201 fans home happy. San Diego and Washington each finished the night
with 4 hits.
Zambrano(1-0), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Kyle
McClellan(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 3 innings giving
up 3 hits and 2 walks.
