A.J. Burnett came through with a solid 9 innings as the New York (NL) Mets
defeated the San Diego Padres by the score of 4 to 0 at Petco
Park.

Burnett(1-0) was tremendous on the mound for New York (NL). He didn't give up
much, just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. New York (NL) managed only 6
hits on the night.

The losing pitcher was Carlos Zambrano(1-1). His ERA ballooned from 1.13 to
2.35 as he allowed 4 runs in 7 innings.
