David Wright had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Florida Marlins topped the
floundering San Diego Padres by a score of 4 to 3 at Petco Park.
Florida scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning. The key offensive moment
was provided by Wright who silenced Petco Park as he bombed a two-run dinger
(his 2nd of the season). San Diego had a chance to come back in the 9th but
they came up short.
Ben Sheets(1-0) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Joe
Nathan earned his 1st save. Carlos Zambrano(1-3) ended up with the loss. He
allowed 8 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.Monday, June 8, 2009
