Greg Maddux went the distance and Manny Ramirez hit 2 doubles at Petco Park
where the Florida Marlins beat the reeling San Diego Padres 6 to 4.

Florida won the game with a rally in the 8th inning when they tallied 4 runs
on 3 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Miguel Cabrera who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he clubbed a three-run home
run (his 1st of the season). The San Diego offense proved no trouble in the
bottom of the 9th.

The winning pitcher was Maddux(1-0) who allowed 4 runs for the game. The loss
was charged to Chad Qualls(1-1) in relief.
