Kevin Slowey delivered 8 solid innings as the San Diego Padres beat the
Houston Astros in 10 innings by a score of 2 to 1.
 
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  San Diego won the
game in the 10th inning.  Edgar Renteria drew a walk.  After an out was
recorded, Juan Uribe stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit.  Uribe took
second on the throw.  Paul Konerko then would hit into a fielders choice
giving San Diego the victory and sending the 41,904 home-town fans home
happy.  Both teams totaled 6 hits on the night.  
 
The victory went to Duaner Sanchez(1-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
David Bush(0-1) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits in
9 and 1/3 innings.
