Micah Owings allowed John Byczynski to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and Skip Schumaker went yard and had 2 RBI at Petco Park where the St.
Louis Cardinals beat the San Diego Padres 6 to 5.

The deciding run was scored by St. Louis in the top of the 8th. Schumaker
ripped a solo home run (his 1st of the season). Two outs later Michael Bourn
came up and he delivered a single. Bourn swiped second base. St. Louis
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Angel Berroa dug
into the batters box next, but he struck out. St. Louis took care of San
Diego with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

The victory went to Owings(1-0) who went the distance allowing 5 runs. The
loss was charged to Duaner Sanchez(1-2) in relief.
