42,604 fans were treated to a fine game at Petco Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers won by
the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Los Angeles(NL) won
it in the 12th inning. Chone Figgins led off and keyed the rally when he
delivered a base-hit. Joe Dillon was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Nick Masset then let loose a wild pitch. Vladimir Guerrero came
up and he laced a base-knock. Josh Hamilton came to the plate and popped a
two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of the season). Both teams ended up
with 13 hits on the night.

The win went to Jim Johnson(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Johnson was helped out by Francisco Rodriguez who recorded his 2nd save.
Masset(3-3) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 4 hits in 1
and 2/3 innings.
