Kevin Slowey(6-3) and Randy Johnson(0-2) treated the San Diego fans to a fine
pitching duel at Petco Park. The San Diego Padres eventually emerged as
victors over the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the score of 2 to 1.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning San Diego scored 2 runs. After an out was
recorded, Juan Uribe began the San Diego spurt when he cracked a solo homerun
(his 5th of the season). One out later, Edgar Renteria stepped up to the
plate and he drew a walk. Jacoby Ellsbury then drew a walk. Mark Teixeira
came up and he delivered a base-hit. Teixeira took second on the throw.
Raul Ibanez came to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases.
That was all the runs Slowey needed. Los Angeles(NL) was retired without
difficulty in the 9th.

Slowey got help from Chad Qualls who was credited with his 16th save.
