Second baseman Dan Uggla smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the San Francisco
Giants won in dramatic fashion over the San Diego Padres by a score of 7 to 5
at Petco Park.
San Francisco came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. A.J. Pierzynski led off and keyed the rally when he
singled. After an out was recorded, Fred Lewis came to the plate and banged
out a single. After another out, Uggla came up and he popped a two-run clout
over the fence (his 2nd of the season). Troy Glaus came up and he drew a
walk. San Francisco had 12 hits for the game and San Diego had 8.
Josh Rupe(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 4 and 1/3 innings. Rupe got
help from Brian Wilson who earned his 3rd save. Chad Qualls(2-2) was the
loser in relief.
Tim Stoops was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure Mike Bolyog will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
